How a hybrid inverter works

Sun's up, grid's on: the inverter powers your essentials directly and pushes solar back through the board to cover the non-essentials too. Because those loads are not on the inverter output, they can be as large as needed without risking an inverter trip.

Grid down: the inverter safely isolates from the dead grid and keeps only the essential circuit alive on battery and solar. The non-essentials sit on the grid-side board, so they switch off — large geysers, pools or ovens cannot overload the inverter because they're not on the backup output.

Exporting: solar covers the house and battery first. When there is more PV than the home needs and your batteries are fully charged, the surplus flows back through the main board and CT meter to the council grid, only if exporting is allowed by your local municipality.
