Reading your quote

Understanding your quote

A solar quote is really six building blocks bundled together. Here's what each one means and why it's there.

01 Solar panels

Panels are rated in Wp (watt-peak) — their maximum output under ideal sun. Add up all the panels on your roof and you get your system's size in kWp: its peak generating capacity on a clear day.

02 Hybrid inverter

The traffic cop of the system — it decides, moment to moment, whether power comes from solar, battery or grid, and where it goes. Sized in kVA. See how a hybrid inverter works.

03 Battery

Sized in kWh — the energy it can store, not the power it can deliver at once. Almost always LiFePO4 chemistry: stable, long-lived, and safe for home use. See how long a battery lasts.

04 Mounting & rails

Your roof type — tile, IBR sheeting, flat concrete — determines the mounting hardware, the fixing method and how many rails and clamps the job needs.

05 Electrical & compliance

DB board work, surge and earth protection, and the legally required Certificate of Compliance (CoC) once the electrical work is done.

06 Installation & commissioning

The physical install, registering the system on the monitoring platform so it can be watched remotely, and a handover walk-through so you know how to use it.

In plain words

kW vs kWh vs kVA

kW
Power — how much energy is flowing right now. Think of it as the size of the tap.
kWh
Energy — how much has flowed over time, or how much is stored. Think of it as the size of the bucket.
kVA
How inverters are rated — very close to kW for home systems, with a small margin built in for how motors and electronics actually draw power.
